It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

Warning Signs, Part 3

Not every situation the Lord warns us about happens right away. Sometimes He wants us to be aware of the potential for a problem well in advance of it happening and for us to, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 The next example exemplifies that principle.

As I was waking Saturday morning, Matthew 4:3 dropped into my mind. I figured I’d look the scripture up when I sat down to read my devotionals, but forgot as the day just seemed to get away from me. The next morning, the Lord dropped that scripture in my mind again as I was rising, this time I followed through and read, “The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Matt 4:3 OK, that could mean many different things.

I picked up my cell phone and read the scripture of the day a friend tweets every morning, “Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.” Psalm 146:3 OK, the Lord has my attention, time to keep my eyes and ears open. He was telling me a test was coming, one that would look like a really good thing but in the end be a complete disaster.

Both my wife and I were feeling a little under the weather that Sunday so we decided to stay home from church. We watched an online message that served as the confirmation. While the meat of the sermon was on a different subject, all though the teaching was a theme of caution, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

We live in a world that tempts us to take the easy path instead of ‘staying the course’ the Lord has put us on. There are tons of temptations as we walk through life every day, be very careful anytime someone or something tempts you to stray from His guidance. The consequences could be devastating and irreversible. The conclusion in part 4.
