Living for a Cause Greater Than Yourself
This year, even though only 2 and half months old, has already proven to be one of the most challenging season we’ve experienced since being called into ministry and then start our business. I’ve mentioned in the past the loss of contracts, contrary weather, break downs and equipment failures that have seemed to follow us this year. At times it has been nearly overwhelming. But I know ‘I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.’ – Philippians 4:13
A few days ago I watched a message by Steven Furtick about beating burnout. (I highly recommend you take the time to watch it.) What I heard in that messages was more than just about how you maintain your walk, but that life can be very hard at times. We know the Lord will not give us more than we can handle and at times, even though ‘We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.’ 2 Cor 4:8-9, we must not give up or give in to the forces acting against us.
Yesterday we headed out on a 3 week run working several events in Texas. As we drove west across Georgia we experienced strong headwinds. I can always tell how strong the wind is by how hard it is to maintain speed. I even considered stopping to see if we had a mechanical issue. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary with the gauges, just the wind pushing us around. We eventually drove out of the gust front and all returned to normal.
Next came hours and hours of rain…at times it dropped visibility to only a few hundred yards…then it got dark, that always makes it interesting. As the storm raged all around us, we where dry and comfortable as we drove across Alabama, Mississippi and to our destination for the night in Louisiana. We made it, a little later than we had hoped, but none the less, we made it to our destination.
When you live for a cause greater than yourself, with His help, there is nothing that can keep you from your calling. Remember, as life beats on you, ‘So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10. Keep your eyes on the prize.
