It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

Devotional

God Has Need of Your Donkey

I love the richness of God’s word. It’s depth is amazing, with teachings for every situation. Through Os Hillman’s calling, we can see how the Lord uses our businesses to bring glory to Him. Had it not been for his (Os’s) calling, we would not be involved with market place ministry nor would we be webcasting drag racing events.

Each of our callings are like ripples in the pond from a tossed pebble. They reach across vast expanses until they come to shore where they are absorbed. Such is our calling in the marketplace. The ripples of our Christ centered living and business practices reach out across our lives and touch people we may never know. The impact is slow and subtle, but significant.

Saved From Such Men

When I first starting my career as a flight engineer for the Air Force, I was dead set on being the best the service had ever seen. I studied night and day and finished the program to fully qualified in about 8 months from the time I finished school in Oklahoma. While not a record, it was ahead of my contemporaries. I did not stop there, next was my quest to become an instructor then finally a flight examiner.

I was fortunate enough to have several great mentors along the way. They all saw my potential and willingly took time to council me even though I may not have wanted their help. Those talks did have impact in my later years in the service. I can still hear one Chief say, “We are here today and gone tomorrow, when you think you’re indispensable, walk down to the bay and pull a bucket of water out of it and see how much difference it makes.” Those were and still are sobering words!

Where Does Wealth Come From?

This devotional does a great job of explaining the reason for wealth. It may not be what you think.

With all of the multi-billionaires in the world, it’s hard to fathom King Solomon being the wealthiest ever. At the end of his life, he had wandered far from the Fathers house. He lamented that all his riches, wives and possessions were for not.

How many of Hollywood’s elite have you seen battle drugs, alcohol or numerous other demons? How many times have we lost a star to drug overdose with them seemingly sitting on top of the world? Money really does not bring happiness, if it did, there would be more happiness in Hollywood than any other place on the planet.

Unexplainable Power

Many years ago a pastor friend ask his congregation, “What has the Lord done in you life lately? If you can not point to a specific item, then you are probably living a religious life instead of walking daily with the Lord.” Initially I thought that was a harsh statement, but have come to realize it’s truth over the last several years.

The growth and financing of our company is a great example of what our Lord has done lately in our lives. Two weeks ago we walked out of the bank wondering how we would fulfill signed contracts we already had and meet the other requests that seemed to flow in daily for the business.

Spiritual Strongholds

“You win!”, that’s what we are saying when we listen to the voice of the enemy over knowing the power of our Father. No, it’s not always going to turnout how you expect it, so don’t get upset with Papa. If anything, when it doesn’t turn out the way you thought, it’s because He has something much better for you than what you had planned. His ways are always better than ours, A L W A Y S!!

The devil is our sworn enemy. From the beginning of time he has plotted against God’s people (that would be you and me) to kill, destroy and take what our Father has determined is ours. Stop looking at the circumstances of your life to determine the direction you are heading and start looking at the One who created it all.

A Joseph Calling, Fulfilling Your Purpose and Putting God First

This is the first time I have ever experienced all 3 devotionals speaking a message the Lord wants an individual or individuals to hear. The same theme runs through all of them, relationship with our Father is the key to your life. Instead of our normal format, I’m writing a short intro to each one and adding the links for the full devotional. I encourage you to read the one that speaks to you this morning.

Blessings

There are so many unanswered questions in life. The most difficult is trying to understand the will of God. While this first devotional will not answer all of those questions, you will gain insight to the why’s of life if you are going through ‘stuff’ right now. I’m reminded of Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Walk as Jesus Did

‘Preach the gospel always and when necessary use words.’ That quote has been attributed to Francis of Assisi for many years, I have used it myself from time to time. It seems however, that it may not have been the exact words the Franciscan spoke or he may not have said it at all. Regardless of the origin, the thought behind the phrase is valid for work place believers.

Paul dramatically expressed what love is in 1 Cor 13:4-8a, 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails
