Walking by Faith
2 Cor 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
This morning, as I was waking, I had a conversation with the Lord. While my discussions with the Almighty are generally an on going affair, over the last few days it has intensified given the current state we find ourselves in…a constant sifting and shifting.
In the last few weeks, we’ve had one thing or another happen. Everything from fire, blown transmissions, blown tire, over heating motors, crazy equipment, hot and miserable weather, you name it, it’s just not been a lot of fun for any of our teams. Kind of makes you feel a little like Job…not!
Monday I spent 3 hours in a rest area clearing a clogged exhaust system on my motor home. As I was working away, the Lord showed me that my troubles where nothing compared to what our friends and family are going through in their lives. Two friends have died of cancer, another has lost a wife of 50+ years to the same disease, 2 others wives’ are battling cancer and out of the blue another lost his job. Surely makes my trials seem petty at best.
Life with the Lord is filled with mountain top experiences. While those times are always the best, we live life in the valley. Why does the Lord have us live life in the valley, because that’s where we find the most fertile soil. The fields are ripe for tilling, planting and harvesting as we work the land daily. The unbeliever lives in the valley and is our reason for being. Paul told Timothy to count it all joy when it came to trials in life. Why, because the Lord walks with us daily and will not forsake us. He has a purpose for everything we go through.
Life is all about perspective, a look outside your own situation will gain you much needed insight. Keep your eyes on the Lord and keep moving!
