When Insecurity Turns Evil
For a variety of reasons, I had big trust issues prior to my surrender to the Lord. I was afraid of not having enough…enough, food, enough money, enough stuff and especially not enough love. My insecurity lead me to be the captain of my own destiny. I would do what it took to secure my own happiness…whatever it took. I played by my rules and as long as I didn’t get caught, it was all good.
An Audience of One
What would you be willing to do to make a living? Let me rephrase that, what principles would you be willing to compromise to pay the bills? Christ followers are tempted daily to look the other way or accept a ‘little white lie’ to get by. It is our responsibility to say no when we are confronted with this type of behavior.
The Power of Influence
Mark 8:34-38
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Each day I watch our society spin further and further out of control. Riots, disease, violence of all kinds and a general rage has started to permeate our lives. Each day we are driven farther and farther away from the Christ centered values the nation was based on and further towards an agenda that is pushed by one portion of our society.
Fulfilling Our Calling
I had sensed for years the calling the Lord placed on my life, I just did not know it was Him calling. Before I started walking with Jesus, I thought I was destine to do something great in the world. Something that would be life altering for many. Perhaps a position of leadership or maybe I’d invent something, regardless I felt I was called to greatness.

Understanding What God Has Given
I can honestly say I would not have chosen the path the Lord picked for me of my own free will given the life I was leading 15 years ago. I wanted what Mark wanted, not what God wanted or anyone else for that matter. For the most part, my personal motto was, my way or the highway.
