Love God, Love People
Love God, love people…that is the consistent theme I’m hearing and reading today. As I scrolled down through Facebook this morning, that was what I saw and was reading. Even in the devotionals today, it was the same type of word, love God, love people.
There have been discussions about forgiveness, messages about missing loved ones, friends, church families and various other expressions of love for each other to include God’s love for us.
In Matthew this is what Jesus had to say about love. Matt 22:34-40 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Love is the single greatest command from our Father and it is the most powerful force in the world. It was out of love the Father sent Jesus to die for our sins and reunite us with Him. A quick scan of the bible shows the word love is used 500 times. Sounds pretty important to our Father, let us make it our top priority as we walk through life each day to love God and love people.
