Uniqueness of Gifts
God gifts each one of us with a with a very specific skill set and personality that is uniquely wired for His purpose. I have a pastor friend who is called to minister to the broken in life. They proudly display the medical cross on their church sign symbolizing healing. The Lord draws those to his church that are in need of spiritual and physical healing. Their mission statement: ‘Win the lost, disciple the found, heal the broken and send the whole’.
As we grow in our relationship, the Lord will use the circumstances of life to deepen our walk with Him and sharpen our gifts. This year my friend has experienced significant suffering in his own body. Through that brokenness, he has gained greater insight into how the Lord has called him to minister to the body.
The number of the Lord’s gifts is as diverse as His people. Not sure what your gift is, ask yourself what do I excel at, what do I love? Perhaps it’s singing or playing an instrument, love the little ones or young adults, are you good with your hands? Has He called you to write or speak or maybe it’s the gift of generosity. This is only a small list of the abilities the Lord uses to reach His people. As diverse as the parts of our body, so are the parts of the body of Christ.
“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” 1 Cor 12:12-14
There is no greater sense of accomplishment than when you use your gifts for His purpose. Talk with Him today and ask how He would have you serve the kingdom.
