It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

Performing Miracles With Your Staff

As I listened to a message from Steven Furtick this past week, I heard this statement from the Lord, “We underestimate what we can do with what He has given us.” Let that thought sink in for a moment and think about where you live, what you do for a living and the talents and gifts the Lord has given you to accomplish the work He has set down for you.

I have 2 friends who have pioneered churches over the last few years. Both are seeing significant growth. One is expanding an existing church building to seat more people and the other is renovating a property from a former family amusement center into a worship center. The second is set to open soon in their new location and will already be in 2 services…imagine that. There is little doubt they are both doing exactly what the Lord wants them to do. They have used the gifts and talents He has given them wisely.

For Marketplace ministers it’s not about giving a weekly message or being in a staff position at a church or even attending bible college, our lives are about our relationship with our Father and translating that into being an example of Christ to those around us every day. It’s been said people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Why, because relationship matters.

The impact you have through your individual relationships is rarely seen on a large scale. It’s easy to miss the big picture when you are knee deep in muddy trench warfare. It’s only when you step back and look at your life as a whole that you can start to see how the Lord is using you.

Feeling a little battered today? Step back and understand 2 truths, the tools of our given trade are what He wants us to use to reach people for Christ…and everything you need to do His work is within your reach and will be given to you exactly when you need it. As we say in the military, continue the march…

Blessings

Performing Miracles With Your Staff
by Os Hillman

“But take this staff in your hand so you can perform miraculous signs with it.” – Exodus 4:17

What is the staff God has put into your hand? Is it being a builder? Is it being an office worker? Is it being a doctor? Moses’ staff represented his vocation as a shepherd. God had something in mind for his vocation – to perform miracles. And awesome miracles He did! God turned the Nile river into blood with the touch of the staff. He turned the staff into a snake. He parted the Red Sea with it. These are just a few of the miracles God did with that staff.

Performing Miracles With Your Staff

When we yield our talents and abilities to the Lord, God can perform miracles through them. First, Moses had to yield what He had in his hand to God. Only after this took place could God use that staff. As long as Moses held onto it, God could not and would not perform miracles through it.

Until we come to this place with our heavenly Father, we will fail to see miracles performed in our work. He delights in showing His power through us. When we become an open vessel, we can expect to see things happen.

Have you given your staff to the Lord? Offer it to Him and see what He might want to do through it. Your life will never be the same.
