It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

God’s Not Dead | Official Trailer

Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. GOD’S NOT DEAD weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action.

Peace-A Weapon Against Satan

When I first retired from the military in January of 2004, I worried about how we would pay our bills. I had received a paycheck every 2 weeks for over 28 and a half years. I was use to having a certain amount of money to not only pay my bills, but extra to ‘play’ with as I saw fit. That included paying my tithe.

When I retired, we instantly went into a $1000 a month deficit. We have always been blessed with the support of friends and families for the ministry, but just how we’d pay everything was beyond my comprehension. It would take several months before I would start to understand the Lord was my provider, not the government or the church or anyone else.

Casting Out Fear

Coming into this first weekend with our 2nd unit, I had clear plans on what I wanted to accomplish. The biggest thing I needed to do was stay out of the way of the other team. I drove to Memphis by myself which gave my plenty of time to think and formulate a plan for my time there. Unfortunately fear was creeping in at every turn. For nearly an hour, the Lord spoke to me through the songs that played on the radio as our trip started west across middle Georgia. One after another told me how He is always at the helm and has everything under control.

At our first stop, I noticed a strong exhaust smell in the back of my coach. I new something had come loose, so I’d need to look at that once we got parked and everything cooled down. We rolled into the track right at 5 on Thursday. Jack and Joanne started setup and I went looking for our new 2 way radios that had been shipped to Memphis.

The Cost of the Call

I had always been a bit selfish in how I approached life. If something I was involved with ultimately did not benefit me, then my desire to work at a project would wane over time. I would manipulate and fandangle to make things happen for my good. Even as I type today I’m thinking to myself, “What an absolute worthless way to live.”

That all changed when I met Jesus face to face on I-95 outside Goldsboro North Carolina. In that moment, at 70+ MPH, Jesus explained how much He loved me, that all was forgiven and that He wanted me to come home. It’s a miracle I didn’t wreck as the tears streamed down my face on that winter afternoon.

The Anguish of Faith

Today is the beginning of a new era for our company. We head off to Memphis to set up unit 2 for it’s first use in full production. This is a time of great hope for our future. It’s also a time of deep fear. It’s hard to believe that those 2 things, hope and fear, can occupy the same space at exactly the same time, but they do today.

The last few months have been a faith walk as the Lord guided our steps. At times it seemed like sheer madness and others absolute genius. After this weekend, nothing will ever be the same. The Lord continues to stretch us, showing us the path and lighting the way. I hold on to Him like a small child clutches to his father’s leg on a crowded street.

Talk About It, Crash the Chatterbox – Week 6

We hear a lot of stuff, from a lot of different sources. When a relationship fails, a business venture falls through, or we hear something about ourselves that was hard to take — how do we know if it is God’s voice or the enemy’s that we’re listening to? In the final part of our series Crash the Chatterbox, Pastor Steven led a question and answer session, and reminded us that no matter what we face, if we turn our hearts to God for guidance, He will be there with us.

Discerning the Work of God

Many people find a predictable life very comforting. Although boring at times, there is safety in routine. That mind set can become the most dangerous and damaging thought process we as Christ followers can embrace. Life, people, situations are constantly changing as the world changes around us. Mark Twain said, “Nobody likes change except a wet baby.” Change can be hard at times, very hard.

The business world is no exception to the rules of change. It’s like giving birth to an elephant, 22 months of gestation followed by lots of screaming and mess. This has been our experience in how webcasting drag racing events has been accepted. At first people had no idea what we could do or the impact it could have, so they opted to not be involved. As the days and months turned into years, we saw a gradual change in attitudes.
