Mustard Seed Faith in Business

Yesterday I told a friend of mine, who is going through a difficult time in his business, that it’s always darkest and coldest before the dawn. During my many years in the military, as both a mechanic and then as a flight engineer, I often worked the night shift or flew early morning training missions. It always amazed me how cold and dark it was right before the sun came up over the hills at the base we were stationed at in Oklahoma.

Trust, Faith, Love

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.” – Jeremiah 17:7

The one thing I struggle with, more than any, is wanting to help our Father help us through difficult times. When money gets tight or resources are low, I start to scout for work or consider a loan to help bridge the gap. Such has been the case this year with the ever moving target of our work and finances.

Whom Do You Serve?

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” -Philippians 2:3-4

I had always been a bit selfish in how I approached life. If something I was involved with ultimately did not benefit me, then my desire to work at a project would wane over time. I would manipulate and fandangle to make things happen for my good. Even as I type today I’m thinking to myself, “What an absolute worthless way to live.”

Death and Birth of A Vision

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” – John 12:24

In February of 2006, I helped a friend stream the first sportsman level drag racing event over the web. We had a joint vision to bring the hero’s of sportsman drag racing to the public eye.

Over the next 2 years, we would stream numerous races and events related to drag racing. In October of 2007, we streamed our last race together. After nearly 2 years, we just could not make it work, no matter how hard we tried. My buddy went back to work in television and I went to school to start a course of study for a degree in computer technology.

Forgiveness Ensures Freedom

“See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” – Hebrews 12:15

During my military years moving from one assignment to another was the norm. Depending on your job, you could be more susceptible to an assignment based on the needs of the service. As you rose in rank and skill, opportunities would present themselves to better your career and resume. This would gain you breath of experience which would in turn help you with the promotion boards.

The Power of Relationship

“I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection….” – Philippians 3:10

The start of this year has been a little harder than normal. We left in late January for our first event and worked the next 4 weeks with no break to speak of. By the time we got to our last event, our ‘speed week’ of drag racing, we were tired. After 7 days at that event, we were bone tired and looking forward to our week at home.

Unexplainable Power

Yesterday the Lord asked me to do something I did not want to do, offer a competitor assistance with his program. It took a while to find the correct words to ensure they knew our willingness to help was genuine. I felt a little foolish and exposed, but knowing the consequences of disobedience outweighed any possible humiliation from this group. They were gracious in their reply, but declined my offer.
