It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

Motivations to Call

This morning, I read this devotional I wrote 4 years ago. At the time we had 1 team and streamed about 40 events a year. We now have 4 teams and stream 60-70 races a year. What I have found is the enemy is consistent in his attacks and the doubts he places in your mind about the calling on your life. What the Lord reminds me is He is faithful and has brought us through every trial and circumstance.

Why, because this is what He has called us to do. This is a great reminder as our teams head out this week for our first ever 4 event weekend, races 36-39 of the 2017 season. To God goes the glory!

…”Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Mark 10:49

As we head off to event #20 of our 2013 tour, I was really starting to question why we do what we do for a living. It certainly isn’t the money (that’s almost funny) or fame, especially in light of the circumstances of the last few weeks. I questioned my motives and the negative impact this gypsy life style has on my family. (Do I have the best family in the world or what!)

As I rolodexed through my rational, the Lord brought the recent events of a pastor friend to mind. He had just been elevated to a new position in the church where he serves. His wife made this comment, “So proud of my Ken and how he says yes to Jesus! It’s the gift of my life to do ministry with him!”

How he says yes to Jesus…as that statement reverberated through my soul, I realized we do this because He has made it clear this is what He wants us to do for Him.

Our experiences in life touch those around us. Even at our lowest points, how we react to the circumstances of life can have a big impact on others. People watch Christians. They watch how we act and react to life. The Lord calls all of us to Him. He uses His people to minister to the world.
