The Search for Significance
From time to time I ask myself if what I do for the Kingdom makes any difference. One might wonder why I would ask that question if I’m secure in my relationship with the Lord. There is only one answer, when you have impact for the Kingdom, the enemy will do His best to bring doubt, discouragement and concern into your mind.
Obedience-Based Decisions
One of the more difficult task of operating a faith based business is making decisions rooted in the leading of the Holy Spirit. We hired our first employee on such a prompting. The Lord showed us we would be better off paying someone a full time wage than bringing in guest help for our events.
Freedom and Boundaries
There are times when you must stop, step back and look realistically at your situation. I am doing just that as I type. The Lord has gifted me with certain skills and abilities. While He does stretch and grow us through life’s situations and opportunities, we must understand that not every ‘good thing’ is a ‘God thing.’ I’m finding myself at that crossroad this morning.
Thankfulness
As the Thanksgiving holiday rapidly approaches, I’m given to reflection of this past year and all the Lord has done for us. He has shown His hand time and time again in our lives and business. I am so grateful for all He has done for us.
Happy Christians versus Angry Christians
As a kid growing up in church, all I could remember was the hypocrisy of the adults I came in contact with. From the ‘God’s gonna get you for being a sinner attitude’ to blatant favoritism and legalism, I came to a point where I wanted nothing to do with church, it’s people or God. In my immature mind it was a package deal, they were all the same thing.
A Question of Ownership
The single most freeing thing I’ve done since becoming a Christ follower was to give ownership of the ministry and business to the Lord. NO, it did not happen over night, it was a process. Plus, doing so did not relieve me of my responsibilities for being a good steward or working hard with the gifts He has given me. But, it did remove the one thing the Lord tells us not to do, worry.
Check Your Armor
I believe our company is at a very critical point. As we grow and prosper, there is an inherent tendency to loose focus on how we got where we are and who brought us here. I have written before about one of my biggest fears…the fear of thinking I can do this on my own and forgetting to give glory to the Lord.
