It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

Casting Out Fear

Coming into this first weekend with our 2nd unit, I had clear plans on what I wanted to accomplish. The biggest thing I needed to do was stay out of the way of the other team. I drove to Memphis by myself which gave my plenty of time to think and formulate a plan for my time there. Unfortunately fear was creeping in at every turn. For nearly an hour, the Lord spoke to me through the songs that played on the radio as our trip started west across middle Georgia. One after another told me how He is always at the helm and has everything under control.

At our first stop, I noticed a strong exhaust smell in the back of my coach. I new something had come loose, so I’d need to look at that once we got parked and everything cooled down. We rolled into the track right at 5 on Thursday. Jack and Joanne started setup and I went looking for our new 2 way radios that had been shipped to Memphis.

The first indication this was not going to go the way I had thought started with the generator in unit 2 not wanting to run properly. Without my input, Jack ran power from my coach so they could continued to set up. I returned from finding the radios and started troubleshooting the generator problem. I spent several hours in diagnostics, bad fuel pump. A call to Cruise America Friday morning and the part was overnighted from Orlando. Part replaced and after a few adjustments, the unit was running fine on Saturday.

I diagnosed (broken hanger) and temp fixed my leaking exhaust. During that time, I also found a leaking right rear axle seal on my motorhome that will need to be fixed before I go to far on Monday. (I already found a local repair facility.)

With all of the things I had to work on, the Lord completely removed me from being involved with the second team. There were only a few times when they had to ask me a question. He showed me He has this all under control and that I should fear not!

What fear do you need to put in the Lord’s hands today? Rest assured, He is more than capable of handling anything that comes up.

Blessings

“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.” -1 John 4:18
Once at our Toastmaster’s meeting, there was a man who was the Toastmaster (or host for the meeting), who ended the meeting very unusually. He said, “Along with our theme of ‘out with the old, in with the new’, I want you to take out a piece of paper, and write your biggest fear on it.”

We did so, and awaited the next instruction. Next, he unveiled a box that had the word FEAR printed on it in big, bold letters.

“Now,” he said, “I have this box, and we’re going to collect everyone’s fears and put them here in the box.” So, he went around the room collecting the papers that represented everyone?s fears.

“Now that everyone’s fears are in the box, we’re going to put this box right here in the middle of the room, so that every night we are here, we will be reminded of the fears we need to face.”

All of a sudden a large “NOO!!!” came from the back of the room from one of our fellow Toastmasters. She ran to the front of the room and said, “NO! I can’t let you do that! I am the power of LOVE, and I am going to take this box, and toss it away!” So she stole the box from our Toastmaster, and threw it in the trash.

Everyone cheered, and our Toastmaster ended with a short encouragement. “I want to end with a quote from the Good Book, ‘Love casts out every fear.’ So no matter what you fear, or what fears your want to conquer this year, I hope you’ll put it behind you, knowing that love is what makes fear have to flee.” What a great word!

Are there any fears you need to let Jesus chase away with His love?
