Putting Our Plans Before God
Over the last few days, I’ve heard a consistent theme of, ‘caution’ and ‘pride’. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. I have watched that proverb play out in churches, ministries and businesses. As Christ followers become successful in life, there is a great danger we will look to our own abilities and understanding instead of placing our hope and strength in the Lord.

From Pain to Destiny
Right before I returned to the Fathers house, my professional life was at its peak. I had attained all of the goals I had set out for myself earlier in life. I would soon sew on the chevrons of Chief Master Sargent, the highest rank available for an enlisted person in the US Air Force. I held a position of exceptional authority as the top enlisted aircrew member responsible for the management of over 3500 enlisted flight personnel for the Air Force Reserve’s. Life was good, or at least it appeared to be to all of those around me.
Overcoming All Odds
During a portion of my military career, I was an airplane mechanic in the heavy maintenance shop. Basically, if it moved on the jet (flight controls, loading systems, landing gear, etc) we to worked on that system. A portion of my time, as a maintainer, was spent on the midnight shift. I loved that shift, we were always busy helping get the jets ready for the next days flight schedule.
Rejected for Christ
There are three thoughts that stick out in my mind this morning about this devotional.
1 – Is there a wanted poster in hell with you name on it? In other words, are you causing the enemy so much trouble he is sending his minions after you?
2 – If charges where brought against you for bring a Christ follower, is there enough evidence to convict you?
3 – Is the Jesus in side of you reflected in your daily walk?
Blameless
I have led a far from perfect life, even after returning to the Fathers house. I work hard every day to glorify the Lord in everything I do. When I mess up I take full responsibility for my actions and ask for forgiveness. I then work very hard to not repeat my mistake. As Christ followers that can be our only response when we mess up. The world is watching us…
Confirming Decisions
No decision of significance is made in our household without lots of discussion and then giving it to the Lord for a final yes or no. I can not remember a time when we did this and the out come was not the right direction. A few years back, we sensed the Lord wanted us to become an independent ministry. We had been under the covering of a national organization who had been nothing but great to work with, however it seemed like it was time to move in a different direction.
