The Need to Control
Several years before I retired from the military, I had the opportunity to be part of the committee that would help guide the base through the transition from government run to a contractor managed military housing. It was a very eye opening experience.
The Goal of Life
Recently CBS Sunday Morning interviewed 16 time NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force to talk about his life and family as he chases an unprecedented 17th world championship. During the interview he was asked if he ever thinks about retirement. His answer, “ No, I don’t want to go home. I got a big ole house I ought to go sit in and I don’t care about it, this (drag racing) is my house this is where I live.”

Be A Solutionist
‘See a need, fill a need’ is the slogan Bigweld Industries was built on and the theme of the movie it was a part of ‘Robots’. It is the single statement that inspired a young robot to breakout of the mold cast for him by society. He wanted to become an inventor. Through that statement and supported by the actions of Mr. Bigweld, Rodney Copperbottom would move from the son of a dishwasher to the savior of his society.
Forgiveness Ensures Freedom
I have a friend who, at times, has introduced me to others with an added statement of being a ‘spectacular sinner’. While not something I’m proud of, it does a good job of expressing the person I once was and explaining my level of sin in a way that anyone can understand. It seems I’m in fairly good company.
A Shoe Salesman
After my return to the Fathers house, anytime I went on a business trip, I made it a practice to find and attend a local assembly of believers. In the past instead of attending church, I ran the bars, so this was a way for me to ‘stay out of trouble’. You can’t get shot in Atlanta is you ain’t in Atlanta.
