It's not about making a point…let's make a difference

The Question of Calling

We each need to focus on what the Lord has asked us to do. I always thought the normal progression for a minister would be to pastor a local assembly. No different than in the military, I was looking for the next promotion, be it the next stripe or job, that would move me to the next point in my career.

For the first few years we ministered through JAMA, I believed that principle was the same. If the Lord gave me a deeper anointing, then that was a sign a promotion was in the offing. I couldn’t have been more wrong. He gives you a deeper anointing so you can minister to those around you with greater depth. Does that mean you are destine to stay were you are in ministry, of course not.

Sacred Versus Secular

There is a mind set in Christendom that we live our daily lives separate from our Christian walk. In 2 Cor 10:5 Paul said, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” How could we ever compartmentalize our lives to exclude Christ from our daily activities?

Character is who you are when no one is looking. I use to live two separate lives, one in the view of the world and one that only I saw and understood. If you knew me in my secret life, you wouldn’t begin to think I was a follower of Jesus Christ. No one could have done the things I did and be remotely connected to Jesus. The image I portrayed was a sham. The curtain between those two worlds was lifted on March 3rd, 2001. From that day forward I’ve walked a transparent life with nothing hidden from my Lord or those around me.

Failure That Leads to Godliness

Our approach to business is as unconventional as the methods we use to webcasting drag racing events. By the worlds standards, we should not be successful, but we are and our company is growing. I do not consider myself an overly intelligent person. I don’t have any significant degrees from higher learning institutes. Most of what I have learned has been on the fly with little ‘formal’ education.

The world would say I was in the right place at the right time. Others would say I was lucky. For me it has everything to do with God’s blessings coupled with a willingness to be led by the Holy Spirit. In 1 Cor 1:27 the Apostle Paul said this to the Corinthians “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”

Coming Out of the Stronghold

I have found when I become comfortable with my surroundings, it’s time for the Lord to stretch me. If the ultimate goal is to be more like Christ, then it makes perfect sense that this would be the case.

We find ourselves in a new (yes new, this is not the first nor will it be the last) season of growth with our business and ministry. We have received 3 calls, over the last 2 weeks, to stream several more events. To meet the increase demand, we must grow the company. That means we need more equipment and the right people to help. We have already found some of the folks, now we need the capital for the gear.

I sat down with my banker yesterday. That was a pretty tall order for me. I really struggle when it comes to asking for help in anything. I stopped by to make a deposit. I normally use the drive through out of convenience, but was led to go inside. I ended up sitting down with the branch manager. I spent 30 minutes talking about our company and the need to expand. It was a very encouraging meeting.
