Root of Bitterness

Recently I seem more irritated with life than I normally do.  Yea, I can be a real crab at times.  I can’t seem to find one particular thing that has me aggravated, but there seems to be a general discontent in my soul.  This troubles me greatly.  Normally I’m an optimistic and happy person.

 
Yesterday, as I swung the camera following cars during their run down the track (we stream drag racing events), I had a conversation with our Father.  I expressed my deep regret for acting this way and then asked why?  Why am I so ticked off at life right now?  I did not receive an answer per se, but had a general sense that I felt life was being very unfair to me.
 
Imagine that, I think life is unfair…how ridiculous does that sound?!  I have an incredible call on my life that allows me to stream drag racing events that reach hundreds of thousands of people across the globe.  The Lord provides for our every need and some wants, so what’s to this thinking life is unfair business?
 
It’s the enemy plan and simple.  If he can find some area in your life to exploit, he will.  He will do everything he can to make you THINK your life stinks so you can present that attitude to the world, especially if you are a Christ follower.  Apple, apple pie, apple turnover, apple pop tart, he is relentless, know his ways.  1 Peter 5:8 ‘Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.’
 
The next time you think life is unfair or stinks or whatever, and yes THERE will be a next time, stop and search yourself for the real source of your discontent.  I believe you will find it has more to do with your perspective of your current situation than the truth of your reality and is nothing more than an opportunity for the devil to tune you against family, friends and loved ones.
